KATHRYN

Rubicon Technical was founded as a small consultancy company designed to support businesses needing regulatory expertise in consumer healthcare goods. Initially, the focus was on providing tailored advice without plans for expansion.

2007

The company slowly built up a client base through word-of-mouth referrals. The business remained intentionally small, relying on reputation and recommendations as its primary growth strategy.

2007-2015

A major turning point came when Merck Consumer Health closed the Hull Seven Seas site, leaving many highly skilled individuals out of work. This presented an opportunity to expand the company by hiring talented professionals. That year, Rubicon Technical purchased its first office, starting with a team of four and growing to eight by the end of the year. During this time, the company began expanding its expertise into new product categories while maintaining its boutique agency ethos.

2015

A significant growth, opening a second office and increasing the team to 12 members. This period marked a shift as Rubicon Technical gained an international client base and began managing more complex projects. With the rise of e-commerce, the regulatory landscape evolved, requiring the team to address new challenges, such as launching one product into multiple markets. The team focused on education around international regulations, investing in training, and solidifying a global network to stay ahead of these changes.

2017

Heading into the pandemic in, the company faced a growing demand for regulatory expertise amidst rapidly shifting challenges. Ensuring product safety in the e-commerce space became increasingly complex. To address these issues, the company began exploring how technology could streamline regulatory processes. Leveraging internal databases, DAPHNE and VELMA, Rubicon Technical started automating decisions on product compliance.

2020

Later that year, the team developed Rubicon Bridge, initially intended for internal use only. This tool significantly reduced the time needed for regulatory processes. In one instance, Rubicon Bridge reduced an 80-day process to just 4 minutes and 20 seconds during a demonstration for a leading e-commerce company. This success attracted angel investment, transforming Rubicon Bridge from an internal solution into a commercial product.

2020

Finally, Rubicon Bridge was officially launched for global use, including by Amazon, marking a new era for the company.
